Libraries Space-Saving Solutions
(Franklin, Massachusetts) With the growing need for more space in existing libraries, an increase in renovation projects for existing libraries and the building of new facilities, William B Meyer, Inc. offers a distinctive commercially-operated high-density book depository facility. Their library depository expertise was a natural development that grew out of their comprehensive knowledge of handling library collections combined with their extensive experience in archive storage. Located in Franklin, Massachusetts, the New England Regional Depository opened its doors in January, 2003. It is a cooperative effort with Nelinet, Inc. and offers customized storage solutions for libraries in a cost-effective manner.
William B. Meyer, Inc. offers the book depository solution as a one of the highlights of its library relocation and management business line which is highly regarded throughout the industry. The New England Regional Depository was customized to meet specific requirements for temperature and humidity control, as well as fire and theft protection. The temperature and humidity control is similar to that of a well-maintained air-conditioned library, with a consistent year-round temperature of 68º (+ 4º), and a relative humidity of 50% (+ 5º). The building employs open shelves with high density racking and open acid-free book trays (pH 8.0) in multiple sizes.
Simmons College is in the process of renovating their library facility and has been employing the services of William B. Meyer, Inc. and the New England Book Depository since its grand opening. "The timing was perfect for us and William B. Meyer, Inc. provided solutions for each phase of our project. It has been a great experience for us working with their staff of professionals." states Daphne Harrington, Director of Libraries, Simmons College. The entire Simmons College collection will be housed in their new facility once it is completed. During the renovation, William B. Meyer, Inc. is storing a portion of their print collection temporarily off-site in the book depository. The William B. Meyer, Inc. library relocation and management team also shifted the collections that remained onsite during the renovation. "We are looking forward to working on phase two of this project with William B. Meyer, Inc. Their positive attitude and knowledge has been a tremendous asset for this endeavor." comments Ms. Harrington.
As a leader in the area of library technology, William B. Meyer, Inc. employs a system that can read any barcodes and thus customize the storage options for any institution.
